| Dean Cain Film Stars Kingwood Resident |
Named one of the top Christian films released in 2019 by Country Living magazine, “A Promise to Astrid”, will be shown at Preston Community Arts Center, 123 S. Price Street, Kingwood, on Friday, June 21 at 7 p.m. and at Christian Missionary Alliance Church, 308 Elmhurst Street, Morgantown on Sunday, June 23 at 6 p.m. The movie was filmed in Bridgeport, Clarksburg, Fairmont, at Stepping Stones in Morgantown, and at Preston Memorial Hospital in Kingwood. The cast includes Preston County residents JoAnn F. Peterson in the title role of Astrid, Tom Peterson as Astrid’s husband Dominic, and extras Fred Conley, Brittany Warnick, and Rick and Janet Turner; and Morgantown resident, Denise Myers, as Astrid’s nurse.
“A Promise to Astrid” produced by JC Films and directed by Gary Lee Vincent, is a heartwarming new faith inspired film based on Michael Tourville’s award-winning book (5/5 Doves), which is a true story about a remarkable woman who used unusual and random acts of kindness to change the lives of an entire community. When a car accident leaves a family in a predicament, their elderly neighbor Astrid comes into the picture. It’s the least of Mike (Jeremy Gladen) and Cindy’s (Luba Hansen) expectations that she will change everything. Astrid’s clever and mysterious ways confound everyone around her, including her Pastor (Dean Cain). You will come away with a smile on your face, and possibly a tear too. Emotional, humorous, and a little bit mysterious.
There is no charge to attend either screening. DVDs and books will be sold following the movie. Cast members will be available for autographs and pictures.
